What is the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI)?
The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) is the national trade association representing carpet and rug manufacturers and suppliers or raw materials and services to the industry. CRI members account for more than 90 present of all the carpet produced in the United States. CRI is the leading source for science-based information on carpet. Its mission is to provide the carpet industry, its customers and the public with facts that enable informed flooring choices.
What’s the Seal of Approval Program?
The CRI Seal of Approval program tests the effectiveness of carpet cleaning products and certifies those products that remove difficult stains or a sufficient amount of soil without damage to the carpet. Not all products clean well enough to earn this distinction. Seeing the CRI Seal of approval helps consumers recognize that they are buying quality products.
Carpet Express Earns the Carpet and Rug Institute’s Platinum Seal of Approval for Superior Deep Cleaning Systems
The Carpet Express C-4 Carpet Extractor and 7IN1 Carpet Care has earned the platinum Seal of Approval for its deep cleaning rental system from the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI), signifying that it meets the highest standards for carpet cleaning effectiveness.
The CRI Seal of Approval for Deep Cleaning Systems evaluates the effectiveness of the overall deep cleaning process and includes testing of equipment and solutions used in combination. The system qualified for the Seal of Approval by passing eight rigorous tests at an independent laboratory, including soil removal efficacy, propensity for resoiling, appearance retention, recovery of residual moisture, surface change after repeated cleaning, colorfastness, amount of pH and zero presence of optical brighteners. Deep cleaning systems that that exceed average soil removal standards receive a bronze rating. Those achieving higher standards receive a silver or gold rating, and those achieving the highest level of soil removal are awarded the platinum-level Seal of Approval.

The CRI Seal of Approval is awarded to carpet- cleaning products that pass stringent tests administered by an independent, accredited laboratory.
7IN1 Spot & Odor and Spot were tested on a carpet sample with some of the toughest known stains and odors, including cat urine, vomit, ground-in dirt and feces.
